New: Post directly to your members’ inboxes

Now you can send posts as emails to your members, using Steady as a newsletter tool

On Steady you can create posts for your members with images, videos, audio and other content. From now on you can also send these posts as emails to your members. The entire content of your post will then be displayed in the email. Previously, only simple email notifications were possible.

This means your members no longer need to click through to your Steady page in order to see the post. This function also allows you to send newsletters directly via Steady.

Currently you can only send posts to your members, but soon you will have the option to allow non-paying members to sign up for your emails, too. This way you will be able to collect newsletter subscribers along with members. More on this soon!

Tick the box, write the subject and send it off

To distribute your post by email, simply tick “Send as email” under “Distribution” on the settings page of your post. Then enter a subject line. You can also send a test email to yourself to make sure everything looks just right.

In the email, your content will appear almost as it does on your Steady page. You’ll see embedded content like tweets, images, animated gifs and so on.

Your legal notice

In your email footer, you need to provide a legal notice — this should be yours (not Steady’s, as was previously the case for the email notifications). As a publisher on Steady, you are obliged to provide a legal notice. You can do this here in your publisher area. More information in our Launchpad.

Not all content that you can embed in your post can be displayed in the email

For example, an article preview or a Spotify embed will work in your post but not in the email. In such a case, the corresponding link will appear with a grey border. (You can always check this with a test email).

But don’t worry — all common content is also supported in the email view:

  • YouTube
  • Vimeo
  • Tweets
  • Images
  • Audio
  • Animated GIFs

We’ll be continuing work on this function, to make it possible to display even more external content in the email in the future.

Any questions? Get in touch at support@steadyhq.com or read more about posts in the Steady Launchpad. Or try it out directly and create a new post.
